BIG WARNING

If you haven't read the sequel book "After you" don't do it. It will ruin the first book and movie for you. It was god awful. I wish I knew before I read it how depressing it would be. Not that the book itself is depressing, but as a sequel to the amazing "Me before you" it's incredibly depressing. Save yourself.

I agree, and would give the same advise.
"After you" Spoiler
I hated it that the writer came up with the idea of Will having a "secret" annoying teenage daughter!
Anyway, I see that some people liked the book even if not as much as the first one.

Not a fan of Sam either. I almost feel like the book can almost stand alone. Will is hardly mentioned.

Agree 100%

I loved "Me before you". But "After you" was a HUGE letdown. HUGE!

All the stupid and cringeworthy and incredibly soapy stuff like:

1. Will's teenage daughter who is just a nightmare. She is not the least bit likable or intriguing as a character. Throughout the book I kept wishing that she disappear and not resurface ever again.

2. Sam. The way that they met was so rom-com-easque that it's almost unbelievable. The dude was a complete bore. And seemed to have some issues but I didn't care for them nor him.

3. I kept wishing that Lou would leave London earlier and go to New York where she would eventually end up with Nathan. That would have brought the story full circle because Nathan was a part of the whole Will-period as well. Maybe they could have delved more into that. How to move on from that and that kind of dynamic to something new and romantic. That would have been a hell a lot more interesting than what we got.

4. The sequel made it look as Will didn't really love Lou. I hated that fact. She loved him endlessly and while it was obvious in the first book that he didn't feel as strong, I still believed that he loved her too. But "After you" presents a whole other image of Will. Even Lou questions his feelings for her. That made "Me before you" feel cheap and it left a bad taste. I've since watched "Me before you" and it didn't feel the same for me. "After you" completely ruined it for me.

I agree with everything you said except for the last part. I felt as if "After you" made it seem like Lou was the one who didn't care as much for Will "in the aftermath of what happened" Even though he never said it, I felt Will loved Lou very much, so much so one of the reasons he couldn't stay was because he didn't want to hold her back.

I concur with everyone in this board! It didn't seem like the same Lou in the sequel!

Thanks, I haven't read the sequel, and I wasn't planning on it. I just hope they don't make a movie adaptation of "After You"...though I guess I don't have to see it, even if they do. But it would just ruin the first, I think. I really liked this movie and I don't want to see it done in by a poor sequel!
