Question for book readers about casting

so, i read the book a little while ago and LOVED it!! i personally pictured will as jude law, i thought it was a perfect fit! it might have came into my head because i watched Gattaca a month or so beforehand where he was in a sort of similar role, and i just thought he was perfect!! but when i saw the actual casting for the film im not so sure about Sam Caflin , isn't he too young? i think Emilia Clarke is perfect for lou though!!

i was just curious about who other people cast in their head whilst reading the book?

:)

I thing that Sam is perfect choice. :) He is great actor, especially in Love, Rosie... I still can't talk about it....Because of him I love this film (Love, Rosie) more then I should. :-D His smile is one of the best of the all gorgeous actors. :-D Please don't judge me now, :-D but I really like this actor. ;)

I love Emilia Clarke, but, I don't think she fits the role of Lou. Isn't Lou a "bigger" girl -- not fat, but, a little chunky. Emilia is TEEEEENNNNNNNIIIIIE! I don't have another actress in mind.

I'm not quite finished with the book yet...but now I'm going to start picturing the actors while I read!

I think the casting was spot on. When she described Lou as bigger I just think she meant not stick thin, a contrast to Alicia. It does work, I can only judge from the trailer so far, but Emilia seems to play Lou well! Out of all the cast Stephen Traynor is the only one I imagined the most different.

reply

Yeah I never imagined her as a little chunky. Just not a waif like Treena and Alicia.

Jude law looks too old fir role of Will. Sam is a good choice tho.

reply

When I first heard Sam Caflin was playing Will I thought he was too young as well but now my opinion changed. While reading the book I pictured Michael Fassbender but I think Sam Caflin is right for the role.

reply

At first I thought Emilia Clarke was too pretty for the role but her acting seems to capture Louisa well.

Beans are evil. Bad, bad beans.

reply

Emilia was perfect in the role. She wasn't who I pictured in the role when I read it either, but she was very good!

reply

As far as personalities, they embodied their characters perfectly. I did notice though that they made Will 31 in the film instead of 34 as he is in the book.
