Can't relate to the characters

I sob like a baby during tearjerkers, but I can't relate to these characters. They were out of touch from reality.

The relationship felt forced and unnatural. Characters are extremely marginal and do not represent average people's feelings. Disabled dude was acting like he was a god before the accident. No... He was just enjoying life, because he was making good money. Just because someone is involved with different extreme sports and traveling the world doesn't make them some sort of superman.

And an underdeveloped frontal lobe does not make someone attractive. It makes them a retard. Talking about the girl here. Retardation is not attractive. But most men fancy idiotic women. Must be all the easy sex.

Yeah there are examples of women falling for men they are caring for. Like Stephen Hawking's nurse. But take the average couple and you will see this kind of relationship is extremely rare... Almost like a mental illness on women's part.

On a side note I support assisted suicide. It is a crime that most people should go to Switzerland for this service. What of poor people? Should they suffer? Only the rich can afford to die in peace? This is basic human rights.

Basically this movie sucks. 6/10 for the effort.

Hey, Soldier. Do you know who's in command here?

Sorry you feel this way. I personally loved this film and understood and related to the characters just fine.

As for Will, it was not simply because he was making lots of money...he was still very wealthy even after his accident. It was the life he lived as a whole, a life lived to the absolute fullest. He then lost access to all of that and had to not only deal with the physical pain, paralysis and poor health. But the daily mental and emotionally torture that he was never going to be the man he was before. He couldn't deal so he choose a way out. And I can't blame him for it.

And as for Louisa, yes she is clumsy and can come off as "ditzy" but I think you're mistaking retardation for naivety. Lou lived a very sheltered, safe life because of an traumatic event in her past that was not mentioned in the film. But was so in the book. (She was gang raped). That's where a lot of her personality and wardrobe choices stem from. She's a quirky, naive girl with a lot of potential, who really needs to "stretch her wings" and "broaden her horizons".

I for one loved the performances of both leads. And their characters were as they should be. Maybe try seeing it a second time when it releases on home video this Tuesday with a more open mind. Who knows, it might change your perspective. If not...oh well, you can't please everyone.

Thank you for the kind reply. You made your point clear, I get you.

Yes, Lou was set to live out the horrible Christian life of settling down with a guy and having a stable family like the one she was raised in.

Thankfully Will taught her the wonders of infidelity and companionship for money and it paid off so well she can now travel the world and have dozens of short lived flings with handsome but unreliable men.

Actually this would make a great date movie. If you're serious about the girl you're seeing and want to gauge the likelihood of her sticking around for the long haul, hire this and watch it with her.

If she loves the film, RUN - because she's likely already looking for a more handsome, wealthier guy to leave you for.

Nothing is wrong with him. He is just one of the unplugged. We, men are escaping from the the feminine matrix.

Marriages and relationships benefit women. A man can still get married after 40 and have children while women are most suitable for marriage before they are 30. *beep* marriage, and relationships. A man wants and deserves sex, from different women.

Make way. We are taking control now. Feminism is the greatest enemy of the society. A women's sexual freedom dooms both men and women as they will only try to *beep* attractive, wealthy and masculine guys. Other men are told to study, make money and get married, for pussy. No. This deal does not work out for men.

Nothing is wrong with us. There are a handful of us who declared war on feminism. We work out, we take care of ourselves. And we will not get married.

Men are the intelligent species. Rarely I have seen a woman more intelligent than me. Men built this civilization, not women. Did you ever see a woman lay a brick? Or carry a log? Nope, they are busy bearing children, which is the only thing they should do. A woman's only duty is to be pretty and caring, and you know what? They fail at that too.

Nope. Nope. Nope.
We are taking control now, and everything will change.

Well, for one thing, men over 35 are responsible for half the infertility cases and more than half of birth defects. If you think men have some kind of unlimited time to have children, you are grossly misinformed.

And for another thing, the only men who constantly complain that women just want to use them for money are bitter losers who have nothing to offer in any case. Never once have I seen or heard a man who is doing well say that.

P.S.: I just read the rest of your rant, and the whole "war on feminism" spiel just makes you sound unhinged. No wonder you aren't getting any.

And you obviously have no conception how much this nonsense you spout is hurting your case.

Funny that you speak to me as if we are on the same level.

Of course I do, especially considering you can't even read.

6/10 for a movie that sucks? Ooookay... Dare I ask what a 2 or a 3 is!?

I'm sorry you didn't like it; I actually related to the characters, though I did read the book which does provide more depth.

reply

What can I say.. I am a generous person :) 2 or 3 is reserved for Uwe Boll movies.
