there is an old movie from 1979 called the promise. They get in a terrible car accident and he believes she is dead. They meet again years later but he doesn't recognize her because of the plastic surgery. It's got that superman esque quality where she looks pretty much the same and the movies expect you to believe he doesn't recognize her but other than that it's sweet.
