Best Film I've seen this year!

Before seeing it tonight my favorites were Lion and Manchester By The Sea, but Fences has surpassed both of them.

It's an amazing film. Hollywood being Hollywood (sigh) I have no idea if it will win any Oscars, or which ones. But of the films I've seen this year it definitely deserves Best Picture, and Best Actor for Denzel Washington. We are reminded once again that he is one of the finest actors working today. And our old friend Mykelti Williamson (Bubba from Forrest Gump) is excellent as Uncle Gabe.

But I have no doubt whatsoever that Viola Davis will be holding a golden statue on Sunday night Feb 26. Her performance is astounding. In the pivotal scene after getting a broad side from Washington, she replies with a passion and fury amazing to behold. She is also one of
our greatest actors.

I give it an 8.5/10.
