Viola put on the best female performance I've seen this year.

I always knew the woman could act, but she seriously knocked it out of the park here. I really didn't think much going into this movie. But she really held it down for me, there were parts where I wanted to get up and clap. Such a fantastic performance from her.

Now I just need to see Jackie cause it seems that Natalie and Viola are the top actresses in line for the oscar

I agree completely.

But Davis and Portman may not have to compete, as Viola Davis has been submitted in the Supporting category, whereas Portman is clearly the lead in "Jackie". Perhaps they'll both win!

But, yes, Davis was remarkable here.

Viola Davis pulls off her career best performance I think, just wow. She owned that character of Rose and she became her, very powerful emotionally raw performance, every scene she is in, no matter if she has a line or not, she has a commanding presence, even when she does not say a word, her body, her eyes speak volumes about what she is saying/feeling. You believe in her, all the struggles she's gone through, what's she has given up to stay with Troy and be there for him and their children. Very strong willed character, I wonder if she gets a chance to maybe go after some of her aspirations/dreams. Viola Davis deserves every award for this role.

Honestly you have to respect the hell out of her character. Not many women can put up with what she did for her husband. I know I sure as hell couldnt.

I also loved the last scene she had with her son. So powerful.

I agree.

She's such a phenomenal actress.

I just saw the film yesterday and i agree. Viola broke my heart, I truly felt everything that Rose was going through.

She did a great job for sure. Her performance was better than Denzel's in my opinion.

It is no surprise that Davis is wonderful in the film. She and Washington played the roles on Broadway in 2010, so they had lived in these characters' skins for quite some time. The film is very successful. Many of the women in the theatre spoke out to Rose in support when Troy's treachery was revealed. When Washington was first approached about directing the film he said he wanted to play it on stage first.

Viola Davis was AMAZING ... if she doesn't win the Best Supporting Oscar, something is seriously wrong.

Yes! Yes!

Amen! After Washington's broadside in the pivotal scene, she responds with a passion and fury amazing to behold. She will hold a golden statue on Sunday night Feb. 26.

And remember, you heard it here first.
