I'm surprised the son didn't clock Denzel..

Don't let nobody disrespect you son.

reply

What did he say that was disrespectful?

reply

It wasn't what he said it was how it was said to his son that came off with a bit of rage, intimidation and almost belittling.

He was speaking facts to his boy nonetheless.

reply

You mean Cory, right? Well, he thinks about it in the play, but cannot bring himself to do it.

reply

.'Don't let nobody disrespect you son."

I don't mean to step on your toes but I think you need a reality lesson. People are going to disrespect you. It will happen from time to time. Deal with it without violence or get a criminal record. Your choice.

reply

Yea, no.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

reply

Yea, no what? And what do you think you're saying

reply

U'z best dun put sum respek on it

reply

I think that Cory was a good person. He had a good head on his shoulder, loved his mother, and was capable of great things. Being a father is more than putting a roof over a kid's head and putting food on the table, and being the financial lifeline does not guarantee respect and a relationship. You get respect a good relationship by leading by example and making an effort to start a relationship. What's the point of opening up your wallet just to fulfill your responsibility and watch them leave and never come back? He should have been telling his children that he loves them and that he supports them no matter what.
