Like a play

Just saw this. Washington, Davis and the rest of the cast were tremendous. And I know Wilson wrote the screenplay based off his play, but I really felt like I was watching a play, almost more than I felt I was watching a movie. Not a bad thing at all, just wondering if anyone else thought this?

Yes, that is what it felt like. I liked that part of it. Normally I hate movies based on plays. They made this work.

reply

Agreed. I really liked some of those monologues delivered by Davis and Washington. Very impressive

reply

True, I got a very Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? vibe from it.

Yeah, it's hard to lose those trappings but the cast is so good that you wish it were a play at moments so you could applaud. I know there were many were applauded at the end of my screening. Just excellence all around.

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.
