The ending
Don't know how I felt about the very end with the trumpet and the sun coming out. Kind of felt like it didn't fit the tone of the rest of the film.

share...but it was aligned with what Gab was talking about throughout the whole movie. And I also think it speaks to the notion that even though life can be hard, throw unexpected things our way, everybody isn't nice or easy to deal with, but the sun will always shine. Through the clouds, the sun is still there. Things get better. That was my take, anyway!
shareA spiritual ending is always looked on with a jaundiced eye. Yet a cynical one is praised. Go figure.
shareFor me it's not so much that is was spiritual as much as it seemed different from the rest of the film. Not just the spiritual side, but how blatant it was and the fact that the characters reacted to it.
shareIt gave Gabe's character a reason to be there. It showed that he wasn't just Corey's slow brother; he had a purpose that no one believed until they saw the clouds open and the sun shining through.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.....
Even without that Gabe had a purpose within in the story. He gave insight into Troy's past and Troy's interactions with him spoke volumes to Troy's character.
shareThere were spiritual motifs and religious themes throughout the movie, so I don't think the ending was out of place. In fact, it supported everything that came before it.
shareI agree.
I took the subway to Wayne Station and Batwalked up the road.
If you look closely. ..the clouds form an angel.....
