as if the camera itself was malevolent and was setting them up in a way to get them all into trouble.
but the final reveal when it was discovered that the girl was behind all that stuff it made much more sense.
Oh, indeed, the camera was messing with them... including messing with Callie. She was just following what the camera told her to do.
And while it's easy to just assume the camera is an evil genie, purposefully selecting futures where our heroes get their asses handed to them, I've grown fonder of the idea that the camera is purely neutral and that it's human nature, turned up to infinity by a temporal feedback loop, that brings about their own destruction.
