Primer

Did this remind anybody else of Primer, right down to how the time machine camera was massive , similar to 'The Box' in the storage unit?

I wonder if Bradley King was influenced by Primer & Carruth's work.

This is the most realistic time travel film I ever seen.. because it had no time travel.. which is impossible.

What was the ending about though?

Was she in the last picture?

Thinking that she must be released from prison only if the paper hadn't fallen off?

Time travel is indeed possible, in fact anyone who has flown in a plane, travelled into space or travelled really fast have all time travelled into the future. Travelling into the future is simple, it is travelling into the past that is the problem as you need to travel faster than light to do so according to the maths.

It's a nod to fate IMHO. She was all cool no problem I'll kill my boyfriend and go with the police because the note in the window will tell me not to get caught at the window and what's just happened will reset as my past self will get the message and not get caught etc.

What happens though is the paper falls off the window and the message is never sent, implying that you can't change the timeline as all the other messages she got were mini causal loops, and the whole movie was a causal loop. She tried to break the loop by deciding to send a message to change things, which she had not done before, rather than just following messages from her future self as usual.

BTW time travel isn't an 80s room.. a 90s room etc.. in some sort of hypercube.. it's clones FFS.

Just because they're a dolly sheep replica like the same colour etc.. then it's 'you'.

Not even your clone.. or twin would be you.

BTW the theories on time travel goes like this:

The government thinks it's real.. but only one time line that can be travelled back and forth without rewinding.. (or from their perspective 'rewinding' the one time line)

The Philly Experimenters think it's real like the government.. one time line that they travelled.

String theory thinks:

Stringtheory says things are made up of lines/strings that vibrate 2Dly and 3Dly and 4Dly and so on.

Like this:

Except the 4th dimension is time and an extra space.

5th is the probable times.

6th is the possible times.

7th is the impossible probable times.

8th is the impossible possible times.

9th is the impossible impossible probable times.

10th is the impossible impossible possible times.

And the 11th dimension is just there in case the 10th dimension needs a 10 dimensional dark matter (or a non light reflecting matter)

Light just = 0kg Solid

If you're racking your brain about the oximoronical impossible impossible impossible probable 11th dimension.

Then it's just simply chaos.

Chaos to the system infinitely.

Say a system that you could do anything in the 5th dimension (1 up from time)

Or oximoronically from the 4th (except for the impossible time travel persay)

Yes, even down to one of the characters having used the device off-camera all along to control everything.

This totally didn't make me think of Primer not even once and I love Primer and have seen it many times every year since it came out.

I only say what I mean and mean what I say.

reply

Not at all. Primer is original and uses actual theoretical science to justify the time travel. There is a logic to the plot that is impressive because it's so consistent in spite of its complexity. Time Lapse stole its plot from a Twilight Zone episode, stretching it out with poor writing and bad acting.

reply

But time travel involves going back..

Just because you lived an entire lifetime one second into the future.. doesn't mean any time travel was really involved..

Science confuses regular relativity (dubstep gravity) with super relativity..

They test 2 clocks at slightly different locations by default.. and get slightly different results..

Relativity says you fly/slow on the moon and walk/fast on Jupiter..

But also once inside the Earth sphere.. terra firma is slower than the sky..

So it's flipped again only slightly for anything that isn't a clock..

You fly slow on The Moon.. walk fast on The Earth.. but anything with an atmosphere.. terra firma is slower than the sky..

Think about how that affects the mind of a Moonman native to the planet.. and a Jupiterman..
