Why not just play the stock market?

Stupid druggie imbecile.

The lottery would probably be the best choice. But to keep placing bets with a bent bookie is pretty dumb.

As I mentioned in another post. I believe he was addicted to gambling. His gambling choice was dog races. He most likely needed a bookie because he got banned from betting at the race track. Most likely from losing and not being able to pay.

Bookies exist in areas where betting is illegal, many US states don't have race tracks. Race tracks (and casinos) only take cash up front for some strange reason :)

Well, now that is interesting.

Yeah, I used to live near the border to another state, and we would would drive 30 minutes to the dog races there. I don't like losing money so I didn't go often!

Bookies exist where betting is legal and where it's illegal.

Some people prefer bookies because the return is higher, taxes aren't withheld, and just convenience.

reply

Obviously. One big win, no one is the wiser. Winning all those small bets was stupid and attracted the wrong kind of attention.

Stock market takes too long to accumulate big gains.

The lottery would be the best choice. They could each be powerball winners and walk away.

First you have to have the money to have a brokerage account. Then, with a 24-hour peek into the future, you would rarely get a stock that goes up more than a few percentage points in a day. Then you'd have withholding and fees and taxes and a paper trail.

And I'm really only explaining it for other people, since you are already a lost cause.
