[SPOILERS] Would the police believe her?

Supposedly the machine just stopped working after Callie was arrested, would anyone believe her that it was taking photos from the future?

I mean, all the photos she could show as 'evidence' might have been taken just at that time.

reply

Right. The photos themselves have no timestamps so are no proof in themselves. They might notice the police tape photo as a curiosity, but nothing more.

The investigator who inspects Mr. B's apartment will probably see some new photos being taken, especially the one photo that's shot at the end of the film. It was taken as a result of Mr. B taking a picture 2 weeks in the future, so perhaps it would also show the future as it will be in 2 weeks.

We saw how seeing such a photo led to Mr. B's death, and subsequently to the gang's troubles. Could be the investigator could find himself trapped in a similarly awful scenario and find Callie was telling the truth. But there'd likely be no escape from the events of the next 2 weeks.

reply

I'm assuming that, after seeing the 2 weeks future photo that seemed to predict his own death he then set the machine to 12 hour intervals hoping to get more clues in order to prevent it, so the machine would likely continue to print every 8 o'clock instead of returning to 2 weeks

Well, it looked like Mr. B's wall already had many weeks of 8 o'clock photos. So I'd say they'd been going for a while before he saw that particular 2-week photo.

At the end, we see the camera flash and take that 2-week picture, and we also see a photo pop out of the machine at the same time. So it seems the 2-week photos are also still "programmed."

The photos wouldn't absolve her of her guilt. Future photos or not, she murdered two people.

One was self defense the other was murder

Not really. All she'd have to do is say that Finn killed Jasper, and she shot Finn because he went all crazy.

To answer the question..

If the machine stopped working, then no they wouldn't believe her. But that isn't what happened.

All she'd have to do is prove the machine worked. She could get Joe who I'm sure she could persuade to trust her to try checking the machine the next time it spits out a photo. It won't take long to convince him.

That won't acquit her of murder unfortunately. But it could reduce her sentence if she tells them she only did it because she knew she could undo it but now it's too late because of Joe's interference.

reply

Yeah but 2 people and one in defense is better than them thinking she murdered 5 or even 6, right? Don't forget all the bodies in that open storage locker would likely be attributed to her as the pictures would be found.

reply

Yeah shed still go to prison for a long time.
