Good cat-and-mouse thriller with classic good and bad guys

Based on true events in the PNW. I don't know how close to documented facts this was, but it was a tense thriller as a crime procedural - good performances and tone.

If your reaction is that this is "anti-white" propaganda, well that says a lot about you. The good guys are all (except one black woman FBI character) white dudes, as are the bad. To be clear, aryan nation splinter groups that want to start race wars are the bad guys, so if you find yourself sympathizing with them maybe look at yourself a little.

I loved the movie, It was great.

Yeah, you have to be a special kind of idiot if you think that this movie is "anti-white".

reply

It's not anti-white, but I think the idea that Hollywood wouldn't make a film about black or Muslim terrorists these days is probably correct. Anyway, decent film.

100% correct

There was not just one but two movies released in 1988 that were inspired by the same terrorist group's activities. They were called 'Betrayed' and 'Talk Radio'. Even at the apex of Reagan-mania in this country's on-and-off again relationship with right wing populism, most people recognized that white surpremacist terrorists were the bad guys.

reply

I have vague recollections of both those movies, I was a teen at the time and that was a long time ago :(

Unfortunately white supremacism is "having a moment right now", as younger people say these days. So the bad guys are not the bad guys to the whole audience the way they used to be.
