What was your favourite part of the movie?

What was your favourite part of the movie?

For me the big reveal of the Yorktown.... That music, the visuals, and shots of life on the station, just made me want to go there. It was beautiful.

The Enterprise flying in under that river too that was amazing.

When Kirk is the last person aboard the Enterprise saucer as it falls through the planet's atmosphere and he enters his escape pod and looks at his empty bridge just before his pod is ejected into the air. Great Music, Great Scene!

reply

That whole sequence from that point on was just brilliant .... Poor Enterprise she gets trashed so much.

reply

Hadn't thought about it much before, but I think my favorite moments all involved Krall. I loved the battle between Kirk and Krall on the Enterprise and thought it was brilliant having Lt. Uhura save Kirk by sacrificing herself. I thought it was a poignant turn given they didn't exactly hit-it-off in the first film. I also liked the battle Kirk and Krall had at the end liked the dialogue between them at that time too. Kind of wish there was more of it. Liked the interaction between Krall and Uhura too.

All the Krall scenes were good. I agree.

But Krall was really Eddison but what bugs me now is who is Krall? Was he the creation of that technology he was using? Did it recreate the species that built it thus creating Krall?

I like the opening scene when Kirk is trying to give that artifact to what seems to be huge aliens who turn out to be the size of puppies.

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

reply

Yeah I have to totally agree.

They gave the impression these dudes were huge and I thought great Kirk's gonna die and they then turn into small puppy sized aliens LOL

Only what's with the transporters in this Trek, they can't hook Kirk and not the aliens, in old Trek they could do that.

My other favorite part is when Scotty meets Jaylah, especially when she starts referring to him as Montgomery Scotty.

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

not paying to see it.

Kirk and McCoy sipping scotch while discussing Kirk's upcoming birthday and how he's a year older than his father ever got to be.

Seconded by Spock looking through his future self's personal possessions and pulling out the framed photo of the original cast of Star Trek. Both of those scenes had strong emotional resonance with me.

reply

Don't you mean his alternate self?

This Spock won't grow to become that Spock

reply

Yeah okay, his alternate future self then.

I also really enjoyed all of the initial scenes between Scotty and Jaylah, with her protecting him and leading him back to her ship. I thought they had excellent chemistry together and it was a lot of fun watching the two of them interact. I hope Jaylah comes back for the next one! Maybe she could take Chekov's place?
