Sigh my silly Borg origin premise was way better than the actual movie

When I first saw the trailer I mused that the swarming ships were very early origins of the BORG and the movie would be unveiling the mystery behind a new insectoid type alien species progressing in the the BORG.

I was half joking then, but now that I see that it was just the former crew of a downed Starship and they magically had a fleet of ships like bees with NO EXPLANATION I guess that is much better. Seriously WTF.

So Krall is just an angry starfleet captain that wants a hokey virus weapon?

Well it was explained in the film
The ship crash landed, only 3 crew members remained, Krall, his lieutenant and another you don't see, presumed dead.
He says in his log he discovered the planet had advanced mining drones (the ships and the things dressed in black/green flying them) and the planet had been abandoned.
So all his bees/drones were actually the leftovers from the advanced mining system.

Yes i know. it's incredibly lame. Don't you like my premise (Borg origin story) much better?

No, because the Borg were already around in the Delta Quadrant by this time.
