It has already been confirmed that most of the Star Trek Beyond cast will also return for Star Trek 4, while it has been decided that Anton Yelchin won't be recast as Chekhov.

Are you friggin' kidding me? That's either a joke done in extremely bad taste or some terrible writing.

Otherwise that's great news, I'd love to see this cast continue on together, they've got great chemistry and they're finally getting some good stories to work with. I would expect the budget to be slashed a bit though for Star Trek Reboot 4. The Star Trek movies have never been big at the box office and don't need to be enormous visual spectacles, just stick with a few beauty shots and focus on great character interaction and drama and humour and start putting some good science fiction back into this series and it will be pure win without the big, constant CG explosions and backgrounds.

Agreed learn from Beyond, lower the budget and create an epic atmospheric Star Trek!

For sure.

I mean they've already got a lot of the sets built from previous movies and they're ready to go, that should be saving a lot on expenses there anyhow. Now all they've got to do is rein in the colossal space battles a bit and make a more tighter, intimate story and they'll do well.

These movies are never going to be like Star Wars and sell lots of toys and box office tickets to a generic audience, and they shouldn't be trying to emulate that. Star Trek has always been it's own thing, with more depth and social and political themes and analogies, with semi-realistic settings and consequences. They need to stick to that and let McDisney serve up the Big Mac's and Filet O' Fish, while they stick to the tastier top sirloin and prime rib cuts. There is a market out there JUST for Star Trek, if they'll only grab hold of it.

I agree good post. I'm still a suckered for having Shatner back one last time

As long as they write him into the movie better than they did for Star Trek Generations I'm all for it. Even just a cameo would be amazing.
