Star Trek has no identity anymore. It is now about aping other successful franchises in the hope of keeping it's head above water. Star Trek began its death spiral way back in the 1990s when TNG films delivered action junk that did not come close to capturing what made TNG so good to start with. DS9 stayed good till the end, but the other shows just fell into a generic rut that needed big threats to everything we know and love at every turn. It finally imploded, but Paramount just couldn't stand to do without, so they resuscitated a dead corpse with hot young actors/actresses and lots of flashy CGI action ala Star Wars. Star Trek has no meaning anymore as it races to keep up with and copy all of the other action blockbusters as opposed to trying to be its own thing.
- - - - - - - I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.
WELL SAID! I want great Star Trek. In less than half a movie into the new reboot it already jumped the shark and by the third movie nearly unrecognizable. Cool motocross scene Fast and Furious style though!!! Yeehaw!
