Incorporate TNG in the sequel.

And have the Borg as the main antagonist.

How many times are you going to go from board to board to board and post the same thing?

reply

No *beep* Rinzzler ole Tranny needs to just move on.

#1 there won't be a Star Trek 4 and #2 if there was....and there will not be.....they would not use the Borg. Go watch First Contact sheesh.

Please, please, please no.

The whole point of the reboot is to open things up to do new things, fresh things, the Original Series cast is explained by being relatively close to the divergence point, why would that hold true 100 years later?

I don't want a different version of Picard or Riker or Data or Worf, give me new material.

Don't invite the comparisons, make a new story, break new ground, expand a new frontier.

They should've did that with these movies in the first place instead another version of Kirk and Spock. Beyond proved no one really cares now after the curiosity faded with the first two. And they already invited comparisons once they made white boy Khan in STID.

Star Trek was too unsure in the mid-2000's and recasting TOS was the sure thing at the time. It made sense and it worked.

I don't blame them that, the TOS cast will always be the faces of Star Trek, but they went to all the trouble to rebuild the universe, everything's different - new tech, different personalities, and a universe that wasn't beholden to the last 30 years of cumulative lore.

Then what do they do? An inversion of TWOK.

They have a blank canvas here and are retreading old material. At least Beyond tried something new.

Trouble is, I think, Star Trek never really worked as films, but rather as episodic TV. TWOK and TUC worked because while they had a good story to tell, they were also heavily based on characters we already had a stake in, built up through the TV series.

We have a divergent timeline - DIVERGE!

I'm tired of the Borg. They have been overused in TNG, Voyager, and other ST media. Rather have a different villain if they do a reboot of TNG.

TNG reboot, only if it takes place near the end of the 24th century.
The universe there is based on the reboot, that also means the picture looks entirely different.
There is a cold war going on between the Federation and the Klingons. The Romulan Star Empire and the Federation are on more friendly terms, due to an event taking place in the early 24th century, where a Starfleet vessel and its crew aided to a distress call and saved the lives of some high ranking members of the Romulan Senate from an attack by one of the enemies of the Romulans.

New universe, slightly different timeline with events that looks different.
