This is so stupid

Why ride the coat tails of another TV series by gender swapping it?

Just make a new legal series.

Better yet, bring back Bates’ 2011 series Harry’s Law and make her a judge.

I loved that show.

I agree in that it seems cheap to go for the name recognition angle, even though it's a whole different premise.

I'm willing to reserve judgement until I actually see it in production. Maybe there's an in-universe explanation for why she's named Matlock that fits.

NOT A GENDER SWAP...DO YOURSELF A FAVOR...READ A BIT BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH.

Original character was male. Now it’s female.

Genders. Swapped.

From the first link you posted. How is this anything like the show Matlock (1986) or Andy Griffith's character from that show?

Matlock stars Emmy and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates as Madeline "Matty" Matlock, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases. Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice. Olympia's ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills. As Matty endeavors to establish herself in her new high-stakes world, she works alongside the firm's younger associates – the charismatic Billy (David Del Rio) and the uber-ambitious Sarah (Leah Lewis).

Matlock is inspired by the classic television series of the same name.

Again, because of this: “Matlock is inspired by the classic television series of the same name.”

Translated: They’re trying cash in on the original series and — again!!! — swap the main male character with a woman.

Gender. Swapped.

"NOT A GENDER SWAP..."

youre a 100% serious arent you? Or do you mean its not a gender swap by a technicality?

reply

100% gender swapping.

Ignore the pedo below.

reply

It's not a gender swap. I watched the series premiere and there is a twist and it is not what you think.

reply

You’re correct.

I was wrong.

Doesn’t happen often.

Turned out to be a good show so far.

reply

It's not a gender swap. Completely different show riding name recognition.

That being said, I've watched three episodes. I won't be watching any more. It's just bad. How it already got a second season order I have no idea.

reply

Yeah.

I posted above that I was wrong after seeing it.

But no clue why they used the name.

It has little to do with the plot.
