It seemed to be following the books decently, only some minor differences, through Season 2, until the finale when THAT death occurred. Now I'm only on episode 4 of season 3 but so far I don't think a single thing in this season has been in the books.

I don't even remember there being a "red worm" in the books.
That's good. There were so many spoilers on this board in the first few seasons.
