Colla-bore-ators (spoiler)

Okay it wasn't boring or bad, but Collaborators felt like mostly filler, yeah, some character moments, but other than Fett and Setrakian learning about the ship...plot wise it was mostly running in place. The flashbacks to WW2 conveniently had Fett's grandpa meeting Eichorst, then just ended for Fett to explain his gramp's fate in dialogue. All so we could wrap up the fate of Fett's parents and his grief in one episode. Yeah, they got some silver...okay. Trip to the airport was okay...but again mostly time killing (Quinlan echoing the audience's "Let's go already!"). Palmer's exchange with Eichorst foreshadowing his fate with the Master? Maybe. Maybe not. It seems like the Master has a new host already.

reply

Yeah, they are kinda dragging this out.

The flashbacks to WW2 conveniently had Fett's grandpa meeting Eichorst,

Yeah, that was a bit unnecessary. They couldn't just have the same situation with a random Nazi forcing his grandfather to kill someone?

They already produced less episodes this season than the first 2, and they still have an episode like this. Things were occurring, but not much was really "happening" here.

reply

That's right only 3 Eph-isodes left this season and it really feels like they haven't done much. Plus we'll have to get back to Gus and Angel at some point.

reply

Gus and Angel's grandparents were part of the Mexican National Guard that fought at the end of World War II on the side of the Spaghettis, and they met Eichorst and Fet too.

They all have the mark of Eichorst tattoo on their ass.

reply

They have to cash in on the holocaust. There are certain rules when using the holocaust as entertainment and randomly making up all kind of perverted ideas because the events happening are not edgy enough anymore for the creators breaks them...
The whole holocaust metaphor falls flat because the writers are simply too stupid to grasp the dimension, and probably Del Toro failed as well in his pulp novels. Instead it becomes another gimmick in their arsenal of butchered myths.

reply

It was actually used well in the novels. It gave Setrakian and Eichorst a backstory, and established the Master's plans for the future of humanity.

reply

I can understand the Setrakian-Eichorst dynamic/history, but to have Fet's grandfather happen to run into the same man amongst tens of thousands of German Army is a bit much.

reply

Dutch's grandmother was a camp whore, and Gus's grandfather was a camp landscaper imported from Mexico to get the Hitler shrubs detailed correctly.
