Was that a nuke? (Spoilers)

The bomb that Eichorst detonated under New York to kill the new world Ancients, was that a nuke?

reply

Yes, but I think it was a 'lightning nuke' to finish off the elders

IMDB~2005

reply

Not sure. At first, I thought it was one of those UV light bombs.

reply

looked like a small one. it took out at least a city block so it was pretty powerful

reply

A high yield, suitcase nuke with the flash to cook off the Ancients and also cause enough physical damage underground. I'm guessing the show-runners are definitely steering clear of the books version of the Ancients demise with the use of this weaponry.

Speaking of weapons, I'm quite sure some of the random Strigoi in the slaughter scene were wielding clubs as well.

reply

Maybe you should've titled that DID THE ANCIENTS JUST DIE? (SPOILERS)

I guess it was a nuke. It might've been nice if they spent more than the last 6 minutes of the show on that, but I wouldn't trade any of Gus's flashbacks or Dutch and Eph's needless affair for it.

Ancients were kicking butt, but if they'd coordinated with their goons instead of waiting for their goons to die, they might've accomplished something.

Also, when Eichhorst comes out at the head of a pack of monsters...don't let him (well, the Master) talk...SHOOT HIM.

And when you see him arm some kind of suitcase bomb that beeps unnecessarily loudly, maybe you should try escaping instead of fighting.

That bothered me, granted by killing vamps they did more then their book versions, but that scene could have been written better.

Maybe have them fight but fail to reach the bomb while trying

reply

Good point. Just wanted the title to grab attention. Yours would too.
But yeah the Ancients waited way too damn long. But the show definitely is going away from the book with this change.

reply

Can you please tell me what happened to the three Ancients in the books?? :-)

reply

They must have never seen the movie il buono il brutto il cattivo.

reply

It could be suitcase nuclear device , but the EMP would have a larger affect on the city's power grid .
We saw some light went out , but i expect a larger effect from the EMP , like all the light went out .

reply

What I didn't understand is why Quinlan didn't kill him immediately when he saw the suitcase. It was obviously a bomb. As for the final fight , it was awesome. I think I had wood.

reply

It was the Masters own version of the bombs Fet created Imo. A nuke creates all that radiation which wouldn't be good for the vamps or their human food.

I hope the ancients and Quin survived.

The last 2 episodes have been really great, far better than all the others so far this season. I really can't be with Dutch and her "arousing" lesbian nurse crap. I wish they had not wasted airtime on her and the doc as everything else was very interesting and good.

I wonder what is in that wooden casket exactly?

reply

SPOILER (maybe) - I was assuming that it was the other ancients, there to team up with the Master.....
