questions about Quinlan (spoilers)

My first question is, does Ancharia ?????sp who got Quinlan from the freak show circus cage -- in the books does she really exist? In the books does she really rescue him and teach him how to speak?
If she is a character from the books why did the Master refer to her as 'huntress'?

Why did she name him Quintus and how does Quintus get his name changed to Quinlan?

As a strigoi/human hybrid can Quinlan have sex? Does he ever have sex in the books? (I read somewhere that he had a wife)

Thanking you all in advance for responding.

reply

Him being in a cage is not in the books, neither is his adoptive "mother" Ancharia. This whole part is made up for the series.

In the book Quinlan is "adopted" by some Roman senator or something and is the 5th son, something like that, thus Quintus. I doubt quinlan can have sex though since he seems to be exactly like a strigoi except no worms in blood thus he is a free individual. He had a wife but the child he had, I think, was adopted.

I've read the books twice.

Thanks for responding. I didn't think anyone would answer me.

I do have a question though. Who is Quinlan the fifth son of, The Master? Or did you mean the Roman senator that adopted him?

OK wait I think I made a mistake here. I got curious about your question and reread the passage in the book.

So Quinlan had no name to begin with. He ended up fighting in gladiator battles in Rome and had no home. Then there was a Roman senator called Faustus Sertorius who knew all about vampires. He saw that Quinlan was a half-breed. The Senator thought that Quinlan was the 5th being to be half-vampire half-human so he called him Quintus. Then the senator sort of adopts Quinlan and makes him a soldier in the army.

As for the sex thing, the book says he cannot reproduce in any way so he ends up marrying a Berber widow who already had a daughter.

Thanks so much.

I wonder if this was an arranged marriage like so many in ancient times where the women and widow women needed a man of the household to negotiate and conduct business or if they really loved one another. Hmm...
Would a woman really want to marry a hybrid-vampire?

I think Quinlan in the series has private parts. When Eph was examining him a couple of eps ago he had a cloth covering his groin. Why would that be necessary if he looked like a Ken doll down there?

I also noticed a certain a vibe when he was introduced to Dutch in this last ep. Just sayin', if they take it there at some point I won't be surprised.

I don't know what the books say, but I tend to think he has male sex organs only because he is half human. He has a nose, 2 ears although they are pointy, two hands so why not a penis?

I noticed that he looked her up and down and kind of let out a harumf. I'm not sure what that means in Quinlan-speak. I guess we'll see.

I don't think Dutch would have sex with Quinlan. I think Thomas Eichhorst ruin sex with a strigoi
