The Ancients refused to lift a finger against the Master

and his plot for world domination.

did they think he would fail? did they feel he might succeed and didn't wanna rock the boat? Maybe it'd help if we had a flashback to explain the backstory of the Master and the Ancients.

That would be a good idea.

I think the Ancients we saw wanted to keep a low profile. They didn't feel the need to conquer the world. They only needed a handful of humans to subsist upon. As the humans grew more numerous and powerful, it seemed foolish to court war with them. What was the point?

The Master increasingly disagreed, said that if they didn't take control of the world, they'd all be destroyed eventually. The humans would destroy themselves sooner or later (it's not a bad point), and then they would starve without human blood.

They were conservative, he was radical.

Not sure any of them are liberals, but maybe Quinlan.

reply

The Master got arrogant and that will be his undoing, he underestimated the human race. Quinlan is more of a moderate he called the Ancients out on their BS numerous times, they deserved to be destroyed.

reply

the ancients deserved to die (if they did in that explosion) for not getting off their lazy butts long before now.

That would be helpful. Or at least it should be. I don't mind the flashbacks. The one of Gus as a boy was weak or seemed unnecessary.

I really don't know what The Ancients were thinking. Ever since the epi where Setrakian and Quinlan confront them and they reveal The Master is really a crimson worm -- I don't get why they never informed Quinlan on what The Master's true form is.

It seems they never wanted The Master to be defeated by Quinlan and in that case, what do the Ancients want. What is their plan?

reply

You mean "What is their Master Plan"? flashbacks of the ancients would be great to see how they came to what they are.

reply

It'd def be the only way to save their storyline as it def felt underwhelming.

reply

Very much the same plot as "True Blood". Vampire politics, some want to co-exist with humans, some want to prove their superiority.

Not really why most of us are watching, but at least its not a Zac story line. Yet.
