What were your thought when you first watched this show?

I just began watching. Episode 1 and 2 were really creepy! That huge vampire monster came up from the cargo area on screen for a second. Then the scene where it's sucking the guy's blood? by using a long huge tongue somehow, and tackle the man, then proceed to smash his head in! Using an open palm hand pounding! Suddenly finished, the monster throws it in reverse gear, as if to get the heck outta dodge, quickly walking backwards! all funny lookin! 😂 What the heck did I just watch! That was as gruesome as my Doom Revenant Statue! I gotta see that again! I rewind it to watch again! Oh man! That has to make horror movie death scene history! What was your thoughts on that?!

I had to come here to read what the heck was I watching! I read about Del Toro's contempt for the modern sexy in leather vampire. Which he thought to change back to the old legends but with a unique change.

I also searched to see if anyone made figures or statues, Sideshow Collectables made a really creepy statue! I can't see many people buying. It's all creep factor. Unlike the Hellraiser Pinhead statue which has the great leather costume, style, and creep factor.

I really loved the first 2 episodes and they are really great. Del Toro did a wonderful job. I thought some of the characters are a bit cliché, but that is something I can easily ignore if the rest is well done.

For me, Vampires never stopped being scary Predators at night. Everything else just is not a vampire.

However, I think after the initial episodes the first season has a huge drop in quality and it devolves into a usual TV-cliché fest. That being said, if you made it through S1, it only improves from there.

Yeah I had to rewind it a second time too. That was a gruesome way to go out.
