Wouldn't that explosion have been felt over most of NY?

just curious. no one other than Fet seemed to know that a HUGE explosion happened the night prior. i understand NY is huge but wouldn't that blast have been felt at least by the characters on the show since they are in that general area (i think).

Most def. I figured everyone would be discussing it in this episode as it seemed quite likely this episode took place the day after.

right?! lol. the fact literally no one (until later in the ep) had even mentioned it was bizarre to me.

A nuke explosion without EMP , i understand if the explosion were small by design , but i would expect a secondary EMP affecting a wider area. We saw the explosion but the lights outside the ground Zero were unaffected .

I though the EMP would knock out a larger part of the city .

Yep, the nuke going off and barely registering with our mains was a big disappointment. Buildings were falling down ! Kind of a big deal. I heard Palmer talk about it, though, no ? I don't remember Fet referring to it.

reply

I thought it was some kind of high-tech light bomb, based on the end of the last episode where there appeared to be minimal damage with the exception of the massive light blast that Eichorst watched from a distance.

When they revealed that it was actually a nuke, I was shocked that no one was talking about it. Even in a city overrun with vampires, I'd think the detonation of a nuclear bomb would be even the slightest bit newsworthy.

reply

LOL I wouldn't refer to entire buildings collapsing as "minimal damage".

I don't believe nobody gave a damn for that whole miniature nuclear blast thing.
I barely passed physics in school, can somebody smart explain the possibility of what that guy called "tactical nuclear bomb", not emitting any radiation (??) and only affecting what seemed like half a block? Thanks.

reply

It looked like it had a small yield. Only a few kilotons.

reply

not even a mushroom cloud or EMP

reply

Quinlan survived the explosion so it must have been a tiny nuclear firecracker.

Yeah that was odd, i dont remember Justine talking about it, which is weird because we all saw Eichorst grinning at the collapsing buildings from the explosion, at the end of the episode.
The buildings also seemed to have lights, which could mean that they were habituated, Justine would probably expect one or two phonecalls from other witnesses, either regular people or military/cop patrols, or from the gang.

Maybe im remembering wrong, but they sure downplayed the whole thing, making me almost forget about it too.

But it does seem that this season is more condensed but not very consistent, although it always had a weird writing thing going on, but there have been changes in the ways the character behave or go about things, like omitting the UV tech, except to guard the Lumen, which was tossed later too.

I mean, they could make microwave UV shield bubbles if they wanted, stun with the microwaves and just keep walking while you burn them one by one, or run and make it a race to kill as many as fast as possible, go crazy.

EDIT: oh and wear silver armor too! :)
Actually, they need a silverplated van and toss all the tech in the back, hook it up and have some fun.

I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.
