Question about the ancients!!!

Okay, I get who Quinlan is. I watched the episode about him.

But I must have missed who those three moster looking demon people who kept jerking around and twitching in their chairs. So my question is "Who are those ancients?, why do they not speak but speak to the guy who is like Quinlan (who IS that guy by the way?).

They are the ugliest demons or whatever they are. Why do they twitch their bodies like that?

They are the original 7 Strigoi - the Alpha if you will, the source of the Strigoi presence in the world.

You might know the Strain is based on the Strain book trilogy by Del Toro/Hogan. Spoilers ahead. In the books:

the Ancients are said to have risen from the 7 body parts of an archangel who was corrupted by the earthly delights. His comrades were offended & enraged by his display of debauchery and ripped him apart, and scattered his body parts across random locations in the world.

Each body part ended up taking form and became the first Strigoi - the Ancients.

The "Master" is one of them. So basically, there's a metaphysical connection between each Ancient and its "birthplace". Nuke the birthplace; kill the Ancient.

They also have a type of telepathic ability - the way the Master can overtake any Strigoi and see/speak through them. Allows them to assess a situation while remaining physically hidden.

I would rather the Ancients simply be born mutants from eons ago.

Who was the other guy who looked and acted like Quinlan? He spoke for the Strigoi while they were twitching. Do they always sit in those chairs and twitch?

or do you mean 1 of the strigoi who spoke for the Ancients in recent episodes? He was just their "voice" I suppose

they seem so lazy, no wonder the Master wanted to be rid of them

Wait, so those three ancients were born in New York? And does this also mean the other nuke wouldn't kill the Master, just simply destroy another one of his hosts?

No that's just a stupid thing they wrote into the show, going against the original lore.

Not entirely sure if they're DEAD dead or just without a host like the Master.

What I'm not really sure about is whether the Ancients can speak at all. The Master is an Ancient just like them, but he can switch body/host. So can they all do that? Are they still in their original bodies? And can the Master only speak because he's picked a host body that had that ability?

As for Vaughn / the hooded strigoi who speaks on their behalf, I'm going to assume he's a 'special' breed created directly by an Ancient just like Eichorst.

How come they don't show the master that much? I mean, they showed him a few times early on in the season. Why not now. And the kid and his mother and all those spider kids. What's up with that?
