To understand why I do not hate him you need to go back to season one.
Starting from S1 EP 1 his father was always too busy (and too drunk) today attention and care about his kid. After all the broken promises and failure to show up for important events in the kids life you can't blame the kid for bring ticked off at his father.
When someone (or something enters the kids life and shows him (or pretends to show him) affection and that he cares about him you can not blame the kid for wanting to please the only adult male that has ever cared for him and showed him affection .If anyone is to be blamed it should be the father who was always too drunk and had more important things to do than to care about his son.
The most important thing is sincerity. If you can fake that you've got it made. I want to win the Nobel Peace Prize so bad that I would kill for it If boxing is a manly sport why do they fight for a purse?
Well, I can imagine that it probably was tough growing up without his father being there for him, but he also set off a nuke because he hates his father, which is unjustifiably petty and stupid if you ask me.
But Zach was brain washed by a master manipulator, The master has the power to manipulate adults into making them serve him as a master, if he can do that to adults what chance does a child have?
His father just killed his mother, his mother was the only one that showed him any kind of love. The father had been too busy to care about his son in the past and now all of sudden the father suddenly cares and his father wants him to ignore all those years of not caring and welcome his father back, I think not

kid is a complete and utter moron who cannot distinguish between a zombie apocalypse and a family quarrel. No one that stupid deserves sympathy.
Exactly. He's evil, but I don't hate him. I just accept that he's evil, but I can't see Zach being redeemed when he's this evil and selfish always.

Father is too busy saving the world to spend time with his son, good old dad was going to fight for custody of his son in court but was too busy with (THINGS THAT WERE MORE IMPORTANT)than fighting for the right to see his son and never showed up. This happened a few times in season one. You could see the hurt and disappointment on the son's face when dad did not think he was worth fighting for.
In real life sexual predators use situations like this to seduce children.
To answer your question the father is nothing more than a sperm donor he does not deserve to be called father. At this point it is too late to make up for past mistakes so the sperm donor may just as well do the only thing he is good at and use his training to defeat the master.
Regardless of the outcome in this story can we at least agree that the kid would not have pushed the button if there was a relationship with his father? Also a contributing factor was the fact that the kid's mother was the only one to show him love and affection and his father who never gave a poop about the kid just killed the only person that loved him.
One last thing before you judge the kid is the fact that most young children have not learned to control their emotions and do not act as rationale as an adult. That is why the law make allowances based on age when prosecuting children.

This is the great evil that Eph was out fighting to save humanity which includes his son and family too?? You're kidding right? Wouldn't most kids take pride in having a father like that who's selfless and cares about humanity and saving the world. So, Eph's sacrifice is suppose to be a bad thing? Lol. Nice try. Kelly was so needy and selfish she made that a bad thing. But Eph was a virologist and she knew this when she married him. She knew he had to save the world when the situation called for it. He also always made time for his son and Kelly. It just was not enough because she was such a needy bloodsucking vampire and she became one later, Geez.
Eph was not at home sometimes but it was for a noble cause. how anyone can fault his sacrifice for humanity when his son just nukes humanity for his selfish reasons is laughable. Maybe Zach is jealous of humanity for Eph always wanting to save it like his selfish mother was. Whatever. Zach's evil, his actions prove it. It's a fact now.

You're not serious what? Eph's to blame for Zach's unstable behavior and refusal to have a relationship with his dad who will do anything for him, but chooses a Nazi strigoi instead? Lol Lol. Dude, seriously, stop.

More laughter. That's a very permissive outlook.

We can agree about killing the father. I am not sure about the kid. In the eyes of the law he is a Juvi and can not be held legally responsible. I would probably pull the trigger on the kid if I had the chance

I am pro kill father & son as the son sucks & the dad is gonna annoyingly cry about him all season come on Quinlan kill them both I say
That. Being angry at your father and triggering a nuke are two different things. He knew what it was - his father asked him, but he still chose to explode it. I've hated him since season 1. He is and always has been a spoiled brat and I just wish they would get rid of both of them.
