I am confused. Why not kill The Master by killing the Crimson Worm?

I am confused. Instead of entombing The Master in a box at the bottom of the North Atlantic where he would still be alive, and could potentially escape why not kill The Master by killing the crimson worm? They could have cut The Master open and found the crimson worm and killed it, dissolved The Master and the crimson worm along with him with silver nitrate, or tied The Master down and placed him in direct sunlight or UV light until both he and the worm both burned up. In my mind these are all better alternatives.

That was literally what I blurted out when they talked about the coffin in the ocean plan...

reply

I'm sure they would have loved to have killed the crimson worm, but it's not like that was a option. Did you not see the master kicking their ass? When they went there to talk to Palmer and find out who the master is. They figure that they would have some time (a little bit of time) before the master shows up . They didn't figure on the master taking over Palmer's body, nor him being in full strength. So they really didn't have time ,to cut his head off. They tried and fail. The master was way too fast, and too strong.

I would have lined the inside of that box with UV Lighting along with the silver and lead and turned them on once they locked the master in there. Ba-Bye master.

Oh well, guess they have to have him alive for season 4.

reply

That was only true until Mr Quinlain entered. He owned the Master hard.

reply

> Drill a hole in the coffin
> Pour molten silver through hole

reply

Dude if they just had Dutch rig up some UV lights on the inside of the lid :/

reply

How would they find the Crimson Worm , cut off Palmer's head and body and spent a whole day search for the worm .

Once the they cut off the Host's head , thousand or worms are everywhere and the team would need protection , protective suit to prevent the worm get in their eye and other opening .

Even if they kill the crimson worm , what if something else they didn't know about happen , like the Crimson worm get kill it will turn into gas and then escape .The Ancient doesn't share much information .

Putting the Master in the seal box is like the easiest and best solution .

Set the master's body on fire

Decapitate, draw and quarter... THEN drop him the all too easily openable security box

Drop him in acid

Ninja Blender.

Too bad they weren't on the boat and about 300 ft from the Statue of Liberty when the nuke went off and that could have been the series finale.

reply

I don't think they had that much time. Knowing the tropes of the genre, I am sure the device would have stopped working after another 5 min.

reply

Yeah maybe, but chopping the Master's body up would seriously delay moving about... If you watch Preacher, he should have ended up like the angel in the bathtub.

reply

Pretty much this. Instead of dropping him in the ocean, drop him in acid, this would literally degrade the whole body and kill anything alive. All they would need is some strong chemicals they can get at any chemical drug store or chemical plant or science facility, etc..

reply

Yeah because of course drug stores and such would still be in business and not completely plundered during the outbreak, and there was ample time to make that detour before getting to the meeting with Palmer.

reply

Who the *beep* would need acid during a vampire outbreak? If anything it would be easier to get acid in such a time and place.

reply

LMAO. . ."Hey, on your next supply run; DO NOT forget a couple barrels of H2SO4!!!!"

Apologists for this show are funnier than the show itself. Man, alive. . .

"Personally I hope they make all the gods black and change it from Valhalla to Valholla!"

reply

Also, the Master presumably killed those 3 ancients with the first nuke.

So why does he have to get the box-at-the-bottom-of-the-ocean treatment?

reply

and the team would need protection , protective suit to prevent the worm get in their eye and other opening
Nonsense. The worms were never a danger for them, let's not start making it an issue all of the sudden.

reply

Um, put the master in box or other container.

Fill the container with hydroflouric or sulfuric acid of a very high concentration. Expose the evaporated remains of the acid to ultraviolet light and mix in some silver dust. Put that in a silver lined box, put the box in a 10x10 concrete mold and sink it into the abyss. No worm, no master, no nothing.

i agree 2 silver grenades in the box exposed outside under the sun, would have suffice to kill the master, just 2 silver grenades in his mouth and one in his butthole

reply

I think that is known as getting "airtighted"

reply

I hadn't considered death by UV or direct sunlight until reading what you wrote, but I did think about beheading The Master again, exposing the crimson worm and slashing that to bits.

Even though there has never been a scene between Setrakian and Quinlan about specifically what they were going to do to The Master or them showing a scene of Quinlan pondering his life and what it really means to him I think we're supposed to assume that Quinlan is no longer on a suicide mission to kill The Master.

Setrakian learning that ancient Egyptians entombed an Ancient and recreating a box means that The Master can be effectively done away with and Quinlan doesn't have to sacrifice himself.

I think we are supposed to know Quinlan or Quinlan and the professor don't want to kill The Master anymore. TPTB should have explained things more clearly, if you ask me.

It also occurred to me after the episode that if the crimson worm would have been placed in the silver&lead coffin, instead of The Master's/Eldritch's body when the blast came along The Master wouldn't have been able to run away. As a worm maybe he would have inched along, but they could have probably caught up to him before he jumped into another body.

reply

Instead of dropping the box into the middle of the ocean they could have dropped it into a volcano. Or a steel mill's vat (think T2 - pool of molten steel). But then Quinlan might die - he believes he will die when the master does; this way he gets to live and the master gets to rot - no food/blood, no air, no dirt, nothing for hundreds or thousands of years or more: I'm betting that would kill him eventually or at least reduce him to worm form and so weak as being unable to move.

reply

They should have secured the detonator and layer the coffin on top of the nuke.
