One nuke wouldn't blot out the sun.

I don't know precisely how it was done in the books, but this is a suitcase nuke. The general theory is that if a hundred large cities were burned, all at once (wouldn't matter if you used nukes or a lot of conventional bombs), that might trigger a temporary nuclear winter. Not The Night Eternal.

I suppose you can say it's one of those special bombs, that turn up in stories with depressing endings (Beneath the Planet of the Apes comes to mind). But there was no indication of that in the story, and it didn't even go off in the city. Same exact thing happened Rise of the Dark Knight, and everybody was fine. Yes, I know this doesn't prove anything, and that movie didn't make a lot of sense either.

I've been very patient with things like this with regard to this series, and of course I'll watch next season. The finale was, I think, the weakest of the three so far, but still many good moments. Maybe they should have just dropped the Night Eternal angle entirely. The Master had basically already won, at least as far as New York is concerned.

They are going to have a lot of built-in problems to solve next season.

The blocking out of the sunlight would probably be localized and temporary.

The problem is, a "suitcase" nuke would blow up a building, not much more.

It was all very strange.
The gang can hide from the blast behind some low pillars and Quinlan, who ran and escaped from the first nuke, would now decide to just get hit by the blast and screw up the whole thing, he could at least have pushed the coffin behind something.

Then i expected a big tidal wave, because i wasnt entirely sure where the bomb would be at the time of the explosion, and since that wind was so strong, which would have been especially dangerous to the gang since they were right at the water, but fortunately for them, this didnt happen.

I agree, the Master had already won NYC, most people had fled or tried to escape and became Strigoi, chances were small that any regular citizen would have killed them all. The nuke was overkill, they wasted it for one long dark weekend or so, with some spicy dust for the few survivors.

The nukes seem to be fairly similar, an underground explosion would cause less damage overall, but there should have been a manhole blowout during the first one, i assume that the sewers and underground tunnels would have needed a way to disperse the blast, usually that results in manhole covers flying up in the air.
But the Master couldve ended the resistance, but instead lost, but still lived, while the gang had time enough to do whatever with the coffin, they should have lined it with Silver too, like other posters have mentioned, shake up the coffin a bit, open it in a UV lighted room, do what it takes, but then we wouldnt have had a 4th season.

I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

i like how they barely felt the blast maybe a couple hundred yards away, but Eph gets thrown across Palmer's office what has to be at least 10 miles away (and hundreds of feet up) since the Stoneheart building is supposed to be in the center of Manhattan.

Maybe because it detonated somewhat above ground and ephram being in the penthouse took the full blast while the gang being on street level didnt suffer the full blast?

Love the science guys trying to apply real world logic to a fictional show. In this world, the nuke was powerful enough to do so.

The fictional show is set in a world like ours. Those are the rules it adapted. If it changes them around randomly, they could as well let the characters shoot laser beams out of their eyes at some point. Because, you know, it is fiction, so everything just can happen erratically.
