Why don't they just photograph the pages of this fu*king book

Uh, it was clearly shown that Setrakian copied the book. He was letting Quinlan study the copies because he didn't trust him with the actual book.

You're missing something.
The information to kill the strigoi isn't in the text that can be seen, it's embedded in the pages themselves and can only be read in direct sunlight. The text and images that can be seen printed is just a ruse.

I think that the way they can defeat the Master would not work if the Master knows how they are going to do it. This part has to remain a secret from the Master, and it had been for centuries.

When i wrote the post i saw the episode where Eph steals the book. They did not make any copies then.

They only got the idea of copying the book some episodes later, after the book was stolen by Eph but thankfully returned.

Fet already found the nest - by just stumbling around a bit

Now with the search-and kill troop they only 'find' it again - taking 12 hours of time (they started their tour when the sun came up)

Not being able to turn off the sound of a notebook

Yeah, and a niggle with the UV lights on stands that they seem to use for everything... As if they can't just be knocked over!
