is it still intact? Or will they have to make a new one?

Does it matter? Now that they know how to make it, they can replace it with ease (as plot demands, they'll find any specialized equipment in an abandoned warehouse or office or somesuch, or cobble it together like modern day mcgyvers from a car engine, TV and shoestrings).

As long as the black box recording is intact then I can see them making another one.
