The fine line between interesting plot that might not be resolved...
...due to cancellation Vs having no plot at all so it 'doesn't matter' if it gets cancelled.
For the last few years I've been a little more hesitant in 'getting in' to new shows as often you watch something, it sets up an interesting premise or ends on a cliffhanger then, boom, cancellation and no resolution.
I think most people will agree Almost Human was a very well made, slick and actually very watchable show. What it lacked though was that hook that made it a show you HAD to watch every week.
It hinted at it - but maybe it was scared to reveal too much Season 1 in case it got canned and people got annoyed.
its a fine line I think. Ironically i think if they knew this was only going to be a 1 season thing they could have made it more intriguing, asked a question and then answered it. Then of course it probably wouldn't have been cancelled.
All in, yes this show did tend to be a bit procedural but actually I enjoyed it and would have watched more of the same. I liked the setting, I liked the chemistry. It was all pretty good,
Lets face it JJ has a bit of a rep for asking questions he normally doesn't/can't answer - it may have been a slight blessing it wasn't too plot heavy then unanswered.
