Why on Earth did they think there was no need for a serialized arc?

Why on Earth did writers for this show think they didn't need to make this show either fully serialized or at least partially serialized? Fringe was both a serial and a procedural in its first season, and I think it was a much better show than this one. "Almost Human" made no attempt to have any sort of serialization, yet some of you are upset that this show is gone. Besides, episodes were shown out of order, which means Fox had no faith in this show. Why was the show made in the first place then?

I don't think it was writers. It was fox who fúcked it up, like they did with Firefly.

Are you implying that Fox prevented the writers from developing a serialized arc for the show? I find it doubtful.

There was a serialized arc in the show, but since episodes were aired out of order, it fúcked up the arc.

There were serialized elements. There was that wall (which one of the villains escaped over) and some kind of conspiracy involving the girlfriend who screwed Kennex over. Sorry to be so vague, I watched it when it aired, so I'm fuzzy on the details, but I remember some overarching themes.

There was some more stuff, but there was no major story arc spanning over several episodes. There was some small stuff regarding Kennex' leg, with the olive oil and whatnot, there was the lurking romance between Kennex and Stahl, there were some references to the other DRN that Dorian helped in one episode, and as you already mentioned, they set up for a continuing story involving the guy who fled over the wall. Very weird that they just left that hanging, since it was apparently never supposed to be the season finale.

But one or a few longer story arcs was just what this show needed, other than that I had no major problems with it. Some tech stuff was a bit ridiculous of course, but not too bad compared to what we are used to in other shows and movies.
