A couple of years ago after watching the entire the Young Indiana Jones series on Netflix, I thought why not do the same for James Bond?
Have the series start when James Bond is 18, and explore how he become the suave super spy we know him as. I also came up with this idea from the Young Bond novels.
Like I think it would be interesting for James Bond to not have been so smooth with the ladies in his younger days. The series could explore how he became a ladies man, his time in the British Navy, you know, things of that nature. And in the series finale he would join MI6.
Even watching Fleming, I just can't help but think how great a young James Bond TV series would be. A show centered around a character like James Bond has the potential to be pretty damn entertaining and fun.
That's a good idea actually. TBH, I don't enjoy James Bond much, I feel like it was made for another era I cannot relate to. Like watching Captain Kirk without his crew conquering every woman & destroying every culture (& succeeding) he encounters. & I always loathed tv series Captain Kirk, but the idea of Bond, before he was Bond is intriguing. How a naive innocent idealistic boy turns into the sadistic cynical ladies man be became later on.

It depends which era of James Bond they choose to do. If they do the WW2-Cold War Bond would it appeal to a young audience? If they do the modern Bond would they do the version in Jeffery Deaver's Carte Blanche, or show the backstory of Craig's Bond in Casino Royale and make him ex-SAS (though he really should be SBS being part of Royal Navy as opposed to Army). It also depends if they want to make it kid-friendly or for teens/adults. But if done right, it could be a big hit. Just the name of James Bond alone will cause people to sit up and take notice.

There are a series of novels by Charlie Higson that deal with James Bond as teenager at Eton:
1. Silverfin 2. Blood Fever 3. Double or Die 4. Hurricane Gold 5. By Royal Command
They're quite good, and set in the 1930s so as to be in line with Ian Fleming's novels. You'll especially enjoy them if you've read Fleming. Much more clever than anyone was expecting. There's another series coming out later this year by Steve Cole, four books taking Bond a bit closer to the age you're talking about.
Incidentally, a small note: Though James Bond holds the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy, it's entirely honorary. He never served with the Royal Navy, and was in fact a commando during WWII.

I've heard this and it would make more sense since alot of "spy agencies" usually recruit from "commando-trained" military units for their equivelent of the "double-O" sections. It would be strange to take a Navel Intel officer to do the covert stuff that was historically more fitting for the Commandos. But was Bond a Commando in the Army or Navy? I would think the Navy as there were RN Commandos in WW2 (disbanded after the War but now exist again) and as Bond is a fantasy of Fleming who was a RN reserve Intel officer, though in the final episode it showed Fleming himself as a Commando with the "Royal Navy Commando" shoulder patch (as opposed to Marines). Was that historical or a nod to the Royal Navy Commandos in Fleming's 30AU? Maybe after the war, Bond was given the honorary rank of Naval Commander because his services (to the Navy) during the War and as a front to hide his real job as an MI6 operative.
