How realistic is this series?
Is even 60% of this series based on true events or mostly a hogwash?
shareI'm not sure, but Christopher Lee who was Fleming's cousin said that he knew that Fleming himself was involved in "black ops" covert operations during WW2, but this is classified. We know Fleming was a strategist and started 30AU, we don't know if he saw any action.
Some of what we saw was true, like his relationships with women but the part with him doing the James Bond Commando stuff is debatable and Fleming himself said that he based Bond on numerous WW2 Commando-spies, he knew personally or knew of during his time in Naval Intelligence. Fleming stated that he was in awe of these men and their brave exploits but he himself didn't have the guts to do that stuff.
