Great mood and slow build-up, but something missing?

I enjoyed this movie the entire time I watched it. The slow-burn build of the dread and tension, the way certain mysteries are revealed, the creepy vibes - it all works. I just felt after the end that I wish there was an extra something that would explain a bit of the supernatural in the story. But, I think it was better than most films of its genre these days.

Yeah I think much the same. The wooden man reminded me of Hammer films I saw as a kid, but his context in this film is not really explained.

Also, I don't quite understand why all the sister's wrath was aimed at the porter and all the husband got was a ghost that he couldn't see. Seemed an strange ending to me.

Up until the last minute, I was really enjoying it.
