Don't the families know there's scholarships?

It seems like most tv shows and movies there's no type of scholarships or pell grants. Most of the time the family doesn't have money for school. Don't they apply of scholarships or pell grants? The government paid almost 2 years for community college and so far paid my 95% of my first 2 semesters at university.

I wonder the same thing lol but it's always the same with these Lifetime movies, girl's family never has enough money to go to college.

That's why the girlfriend approached the teacher about the 'C,' because she knew she wouldn't get a scholarship with a poor grade in English.

Sadly, many kids aren't eligible for need-based scholarships because their middle-class parents make "too much money," yet these parents are still unwilling or unable to pay for their children's college.

It makes me sad that you are a beneficiary of so much financial aid and apparently an upperclassman at a university, but have yet to master elementary-level grammar.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw this movie. With the father being unemployed and the mother working as I think they said a nurse, I could be wrong but I remember the job wasn't one with a bread winning income, I find it difficult to believe she would not be accepted by Financial Aid's Pell Grant. I understand that it can be difficult for those upper middle class families who make just over the amount for government assistance for college and not enough to afford the tuition. But in her case I don't feel that is going to be a problem. Not to mention taking into account her obviously impressive grade point average and even with the one paper counting for 10% of her grade at a C if her average in the course was high enough, at least a B would still be obtainable. Having a mixture of A's and B's is still a very good average and could still even gaurentee her a scholarship as well.

it's kind of hard to prove to the college people that you are strapped for cash if your daughter has this nice car, you live in this nice house complete with pool and hot tub built in...

Even if her parents had too much for her to get financial aid, there is always work/study and loans available. Imagine if she lived at home and got her a job and paid for her own school!
