She could have picked it up off the sidewalk after the movie. It proves absolutely nothing. When they were questioning her she had no sympathy for her dead student, just chatted about how nice old theaters are, also the girls car had no dents just a small amount of blood dabbed on.

she could have gone to the movie and left the theater. The cops could have talked to the person in the ticket booth who would surely remember her coming in LATE ("I know the movie is almost over") Of course, it's a bad alibi, one that could have been NOT IRON CLAD for sure.
shareThey don't really see it as an alibi. At this point, there's only evidence pointing at JAMIE, and nothing but her accusations about MRS. MATSON being guilty. After asking around and everybody saying that they didn't know anything about the affair, all they need is a minimum proof that MATSON didn't do it. They would've investigated deeper if they had more reasons.

shareYeah that's what I think. They don't have time for everyone. If they have a prime suspect, straightforward evidence is usually enough to knock others out, if they aren't big suspects to begin with. It depends on how well you frame them!
