I just watched this on HuluPlus. Really enjoyed the first, this one not at all. Anyhow, before they start the hot tub for the first time Jacob says that Adam's trench coat is on the ground next to it, and this never seems to pay off. John Cusack was nowhere to be scene even though this suggested a cameo.

shareI often wondered this too and I saw the deleted alternate ending. However it doesn't really explain why they kept that part in the original cut. Unless it was just a way to introduce his son's character into the movie.
shareWait. I just thought about it after I typed that. It might have been Adam Jr.'s coat. Remember, he did in fact kill Lou, and he was wearing a tux (trenchcoat) when he did it. Of course they didn't know Adam Sr. had a son, so naturally they assumed it was him.

In the theatrical version the coat is their first clue as to where to go (Adam Jr.) you could easily presume that at some point in the future Adam Jr. inherets the trench coat
