Some parts were "ehh" but it was consistently note funny through the whole film than the first movie

I'm about 15 minutes in and I've laughed more now that I did at the whole first movie

Ditto. Without Cusack as the straight man it is actually funnier.

The 80’s was good but it lost its luster near the end. The future was hilarious and fun throughout. The only part I’d have changed is the year it takes place. Too much changed including the characters looks for 10 years, I’d have preferred if it were 20 years into the future.

While I do like John Cusack and the first movie, the sequel is absolutely hilarious and I agree it's partly because of Cusack's absence. There's no one to 'ground' the shenanigans, it just keeps getting escalated and it's glorious.
