First relationships.. do they?

Do they die? I read it somewhere that often the first love interest in any show dies before the show ends. The real game is revealed later e.g Steroline instead of Stelena and Forwood.

Sometimes. See: Stefan/Elena (TVD), Dawson/Joey (Dawson's Creek), Clark/Lana (Smallville), Jackson/Hayley (TO).

Other times, the initial pairing splits and only reunites at the end of the series. I'm thinking mainly of Ross/Rachel (Friends) and Piper/Leo (Charmed), but I'm sure there are others.

I'm hard pressed to think of any pairing that stayed together throughout the entire run.

Jackson/Hayley (TO).

But Haylijah happened before them... Hayley and Elijah got together before she got married to Jackson... She had fallen for Elijah in season 1.

That is again Haylijah...

So there is no formula then...

That is interesting...

I didn't count random hookups, but real relationships. 

Hayley and Elijah only very recently became more than casual sex partners. There was romantic interest, but no real relationship until after Jackson died.

Hmm.

Alias, Sydney and Vaughn. She was engaged, but he was eliminated in the first episode, which led her to Vaughn. They were together but then torn apart, then together again.

reply

Seems so. Buffy didn't end up with Angel. Angel not with Cordelia.
Marissa Cooper didn't end up with Ryan. But Summer with Seth.
Bonnie didn't end up with Jeremy, Caroline not with Matt (yay!), Elena (probably) not with Stefan.
Clarke not with Lexa.

However Liz Parker ended up with Max Evans, but Isabel Evans not with Alex Whitman.

From what I have observed, more breakup permanently by the end of series than breakup and get back together like Piper/Leo and some other I have seen.

Caroline not with Matt (yay!),

that would have been boring.

Elena (probably) not with Stefan.

Probably?
You still think Stelena is possible.

No, that ship has sailed. Only the show isn't over yet.

Forwood,etc.

Is there a reason you can't use their full names?

Maybe life is a dream and we wake up when we die?

reply

I am sorry, what?

isnt that the ship name? Caroline and Tyler?

reply

I am not a shipper and do not understand the reason why people combine the characters names. It seems so juvenile.

makes it shorter to type? 

Forwood is actually cuter too. Writing Caroline/Tyler will take few more precious seconds of my life 

I know this question is really about whether Klaus and Hayley are going to end up together, and the answer is no.

reply

LOL! You always crack me up. You know that was the real question.

reply

I really really hope they kill Haylijah soon because holy fvck its increasing the likelihood of killing the show for me. I'd much rather have Klayley at this point and this is coming from a Klamille shipper and someone who doesn't even like Hayley much.

Crowley: Can't you people just sit on clouds & play harps, like you're supposed to?

reply

I understand the sentiments but at this point neither will happen- that will not be killed, that will not become cannon.

So you better start looking for a new show... Have you tried Westworld btw?

Nathan/Haley from one tree hill buck this trend. They had small breakups but only ever dated each other. (Nathan dated Peyton in the pilot, but basically he was Haley's first boyfriend).

reply

I see.

Nathan dated Peyton in the pilot, but basically he was Haley's first boyfriend

But on screen who was the first cannon pairing? Nathan/Peyton or Haley/Nathan? I mean did they reveal later that Nathan was Haley's first boyfriend or in the pilot before N/P date?

Never watched that show.

reply

For Nathan it was Peyton. But it was the first relationship Haley was put in. I get that its not quite a perfect example but from season 1 episode 8 to the end of a 9 season show, they only ever dated each other.

reply

So my question, the thread was basically about reciprocated first relationship. I wish I had cleared that up in OP. For example in this particular show Hayley/Elijah was reciprocated but Hayley/Jackson not so much (it got developed). But Hayley/Jackson became cannon first. Yeah H/E hooked up before but they didnt become a couple first.

Nathan and Haley. Loved that show and still miss it. Brings back memories

They not only dated, but, were married for most it and that was such a joy opposed to all these annoying will they/won't they relationships

reply

Nope. I think the most common thing is present main couple at beginning and then keep them separated until end. Which I think is ridiculous most of the time. Watching couples together can also be good, no need for love triangles etc to make drama.
