These are two people who clearly love each other, even though they have a very complicated situation. Elijah is a thousand-year-old vampire with a sense of honor and dignity, yet he’s capable of doing unspeakable things. Hayley, despite being a hybrid, has only lived a mortal lifetime, and she has values and ethics that approximate those of a human being. When their family is put in jeopardy, these two people are going to do whatever they have to do to protect each other.

Here you go Cece.. He addressed the age and experience over here.

Dignity, honor, values and ethic? Since when having sex with your baby uncle or with mother of your niece constitute ethic or honor.

WE definitely live on different planet.

I wonder what 'Cost' is he talking about?

Are you guys ready for another season of Eh angst? IS this really considered a true romance story? The only way it can be considered romantic in my eyes after all this angst if if one of them dies esp Elijah. Maybe that is what 'cost' means .. Oh who am I kidding? Never going to happen but seriously can "unspeakable thing" mean saving the family from Klaus?

Oh and Happy new year. May this year prove better than last year for all of us.

Oh here you go again...your hate for Elijah. You don't hear Hayley complaining. While Hayley was married to Jackson, she was still making eyes at Elijah.

Like it or not, this is what the EP want. Why don't you get over it, but didn't you say in another thread that you didn't care anymore?

Why do you talk about a ship you hate?

The part that had my eyes rolling is that Narducci said Hayley has the ethics and values of a human.

^^ this basically... Clearly we missed the memo where that was established ON THE SHOW and not through interviews. He must be in his lala land when he gave that interview..

It's odd to me that the writers think that Haley has ever had honor and ethics. She made it clear way back on TVD, that she was perfectly find selling people out to get what she wants. And when she's angry, man, oh man, can she be malicious and vengeful. Elijah kind of started out with some kind of honor code, but with each passing season, he's been losing that. Honestly, there are very few characters on TO that I feel any of these compliments can be handed out to--and sadly one of them just died--so the list is even shorter.

Still doesn't upset me that much seeing Elijah and Haley as couple because I think compared to all of the other messed up stuff that happens, this is tiny in comparison. But no more angst! Either they're together or not, but I think the writers have reached that point where they need to pick one.

I am baffled too. Just a thought though; maybe they think that Hayley killing those hybrids to find out information about her family is equivalent to Elijah killing a diner full of innocent people to "protect" Hope? Maybe ?

Their idea of code of honor and dignity is obviously different from mine or most of ours.

But no more angst! Either they're together or not, but I think the writers have reached that point where they need to pick one.

I thought this five year of separation was going to be their last angst but if it is not then that time to choose which path to take has come and gone. This "forbidden" romance story can easily be titled as "Angst to no end."

I'm just tired of it at this point. I know a lot of writers think angst is the only thing that makes a couple interesting, but it can be wildly exhausting too.

As odd as Haley and Elijah are, at least they're both consenting to the relationship. Nor have they ever abused or tried to kill each other. And they thankfully they can't have kids together. That would probably push it for me. Lol.

Yes they are consenting adults and that makes it all alright and yes they have not tried to kill each other.
Murder and torture of innocent people is way worse than an icky relationship in general but this show is about vampires so not real comparison IMO. The EP and the writers pushing EH down our throat while at the same time singing a song about how noble and honorable a 1000 year old vampire who can do unspeakable things is and now they have put Hayley, a hybrid, in that bucket of characteristics too is really bad. OH hey maybe that unspeakable thing is crossing a line when he decided to lust after his niece mom 🤔?

Them not able to have any children is not by choice. If they COULD they would have by now. We should thank Esther for saving us from other level of ickiness LOL. Because of Esther's antics Hayley is a hybrid. But dont mind that. Elijah already thinks/ hopes that HE is Hope's father instead of KLaus. From one of the article I have read that in season 4 Elijah will again be "struggling" with that. At this point, I am hoping I just have to see the angst between E and H AND not him trying to play a father to Hope forgetting his real relationship with the child while putting down her real father.

But then again if Caroline can be a mommy then who is stopping them from making Hayley prego with Elijah's baby. It is just them another set of rule they write and we just accept it.

I think it is, though. Yes, in the real world, this relationship would be deemed weird and icky to most people (it would to me), but even in the real world most people would be more upset about the murder of an innocent person than they would be at seeing a woman dating her baby daddy's brother. And I can't really draw these moral and ethical lines on creatures that are immoral to begin with. If murder, torture and rape are deemed okay simply because "they're vampires" than I just don't see how this is so awful. I think it's the least messed up thing about this family that Hope has to come to terms with as she gets older. I do agree, though, that the writers shouldn't try to paint all of these people as honorable and moral when they're anything but. I say be honest. These are messed up people doing messed up things and while some of these things are understandable and sympathetic in certain ways, they're still extremely messed up.

But then again if Caroline can be a mommy then who is stopping them from making Hayley prego with Elijah's baby. It is just them another set of rule they write and we just accept it.

Fingers crossed that that never happens. Lol.

I hope we see predominantly Hayley's values and ethics that don't approximate those of a human being! I miss Katherine.

I thought she already did that when she conspired to get those hybrids' killed but then again I am still struggling with associating Hayley with terms like values and ethic and Elijah with dignity and honor.

Elijah was just that on TVD, therefore Elena was able to screw him over at least twice.
Hayley was obsessed with her ancestors but became a dedicated parent after she had Hope. She even reconciled with Klaus for the sake of her daughter. Their road trip was hilarious.

i have seen that road trip. It was good but basically popping up eh... This is same hayley who stole his child from him. Where were her ethics then? But then again MN did compare them to being human which we as human know are not really honorable in most of the cases.

They need to stop talking about honor and dignity, ethics and stuff with these two. That may earn this couple some more fans backing.

I actually don't judge her for trying to take Hope away. It probably wasn't the smartest move given what was going on at the time, but it's something I might consider if the father of my child was an abusive, murderer, who repeatedly hurts his loved ones has a thousand years worth of enemies because of how evil he was. She wasn't being malicious when she did it, she was doing what she felt was best for Hope. I get that.

I get why she did that but that was not ethical which is what we are supposed to accept that she is as per this interview.

It is just like why Elijah killed Marcel.. yes understandable but totally wrong thing on both of their parts. Hmm they are similar.

For all my hate for ELijah and Haylijah I dont think they should end it just because it is very clear that Hayley and Elijah love each other. For whatever the reasons Elijah chose to love Hayley despite knowing that it went against everything he is about. Hayley fell in love with ELijah despite knowing that she could very well ruin the bro's relationship.

Yes it has ruined Elijah completely and shows Hayley in bad light too. I say that they deserve each other. At least someone would should come out happy from this atrocity called "The Originals" which started by introducing a child into an environment that could have become solid and healthy and pure but they had to do one more icky stuff to destroy that for her too.
