Probability of a new spin off?

By JP based on TO and TVD? Bear in mind that JP interview about that crossover after tvd ends.

And who will star in it and what will it be about...

I never heard about that. I thought it meant that someone could cross over from TVD as a recurring or regular.

TO is on life support and the fourth season hasn't aired. Both have abysmal ratings and reviews. Not a chance

reply

I don't want a spinoff I want a new show with new actors and new characters. Can't they just come up with a new vampire or werewolf show?!
I don't care about Bonnie's life or Matt's or whoever beyond TVD. Just don't care! I'm over all of them. I want a new script, new writers and less *beep*

reply

Amen to that!

reply

I second that amen.

reply

CW have one in their development slate for next Fall called Lost Boys. No werewolves just vampires.

reply

Based on the movie? God, no. Is nothing sacred anymore?!

reply

Yup. This one has the iZombie EP as showrunner so I'm more coonfident of the quality unlike if Plec was the showrunner. The only problem is that guy doesn't have a track record of shows premiering with very good ratings so this reboot might not appeal that much to mainstream audience.

Really? I have seen Izombie trailers. It seemed terrible. JP has mostly done a pretty good job with these two shows.

so it will be reboot of TO and TVD with same cast or somewhat same cast?

When I had heard about the spoilers about the spoilers of the spin off, I got the impression that JP is going to do that show and going to bring selective characters from both shows to this new spin off.

In any case mainstream audience, most of it, has already lost interest in the storylines. Many of their fav. have been killed or story lines destroyed beyond repair.

Plec has no connection with Lost Boys reboot.
PLec has a show in development on CW called Rise. It's a martial law themed drama nothing supernatural.
Plec has tendency to follow a certain fan favored storyline which hinders the show's quality. TVD for example. They could given Nina's character a brutal death when they found out that she's living the show. TVD could've gone to different directions had they killed Elena permanently. They're bogged down by her presence ven on the finale season where not even Plec is sure if they can get Nina to do the very last episode.

I dont think they could have killed Elena since this is the story about a girl confused about two bros. She couldnt die till the ver end of the show if ever she is to die BUT when NINA left, JP should have hired another actress and made her Elena.

As for the bold part, SHE was the one who thought of DE since the books are based on SE so it is not like her favoring fans. Of course once the couple was established by her and she continued with that it seems that she is fan servicing but it was HER dream to make them an endgame in this show but with Nina's departure it got a bit off track.

KC was fan service. It was never meant to become that popular or happen.... And if KC still happens that will be fan service.

Out of curiosity how do you envision the show to have gone if Elena had died?

So if JP's show is not supernatural then what is this rumor about the spin off?

reply

Plec actually doesn't care about fan favorites, it's strictly personal favoritism which is almost worse since she couldn't give less of a f-ck about what the fans enjoy or watch for

reply

iZombie's showrunners also did Veronica Mars, so he actually knows what he's doing unlike Plec

reply

things have not been sacred for a very long time in Hollywood. i am not shocked about "Lost Boys" getting a tv series spinoff

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

reply

It still in development. Could still fail if the script turns out terrible. Last year, CW ordered pilots around Jan 30 so will know around that time this year which shows will get ordered to pilot. I have more faith in this reboot though since it's from a competent producer unlike Plec.

reply

Get a new routine. Julie Plec is competent, this last season of TVD is being ruined by actor availability but more importantly, letting someone get final season credit. Kevin Williamson is now on my permanent 'do not watch list'.

This show got screwed by timeslots and last season's nightmare leaks and any interest I had in Supergirl is being eroded by the CW's ability to somehow ruin any shows that are important enough not to screw over.

At least after this year, I won't be watching any CW shows because they either go bad or don't fit with the brand. As for The Lost Boys pilot, I never had enough sentimentality but it'll be a CW show so will not touch it even with gloves on.

Even with the best writers and best teams, given the treatment of The Originals, I highly doubt a show would be allowed to break with the CW style without getting scorched. At least Supernatural will be screwing with the network for the foreseeable future- ten things that will survive a nuclear apocalypse.

Nope she sucks. TVD had the chance to reinvent themselves after Nina but Plec didn't but kept on kissing her ass.
Good if you quit. Less whining the better. I won't miss you.

reply

You mean unlike other petty spiteful producers, she didn't do the creative equivalent of burning a Nina Dobrev effigy? It's not her fault Paul and Ian are no Joseph and Daniel and when they've focused on them, it goes flat.

So I'll miss you what? Coming onto this board and on some thing about superhero shows, I don't know, somehow my heart will go on. There are other shows on other networks. :)

Have a great day.

The ratings for TO would have to improve tremendously in order for the CW to consider another spin-off. No way would they consider such an idea while TO is on life support.
