Will the Originals continue after this season???

Like are the depending on TVD and their storylines.. I get this is a spinoff.. but usually IF one show ends the spinoff ends too... BTVS and angel anyone???

So far, TO and tvd's stories have been completely independent.

Angel's cancellation had nothing to do with Buffy being cancelled on a different network a year earlier. WB canned it to "make room" for a Dark Shadows reboot, and didn't want another vampire show on to "confuse" people. Then, after it was too late to bring back Angel, the DS reboot itself turned into some sort of mess and canned before they even made it.

Basically network stupidity, nothing to do with being a spinoff of a cancelled show.

I though SMG only signed on for 2 more years after her death in season 5...
