Ah, the thievery!

M. Night has never been known for originality, but this was a blatant ripoff of Twin Peaks. Go ahead... Switch the IMDB description for Wayward Pines with the setup for Twin Peaks. An FBI agent (Kyle MacLachlan) is sent to the bucolic town of Twin Peaks when another FBI agent (Chris Isaacs) goes missing. Sure... This show has "abbies" instead of being haunted by spirits from another place, but the town that isn't what it claims to be is swappable, for sure. Couple that with a pretty lame first season that is chased by a season 2 that is essentially a reboot of season 1 with an obstinate Matt Dillon the agent being switched with an obstinate Jason Patric the doctor. THEY don't like authORity and can't figure out why they are HERE! Who cares if season three happens. I couldn't force down season two. I'll just wait for David Lynch's reboot of Twin Peaks and go back to stopping trying to like M. Night's crap that he keeps smearing into my eyeballs.

Good for you.

During the first season's airing, people found similarities between this show and dozens of other shows and movies.. We compiled a list of them here on this board, but unfortunately the IMDb system has deleted those old threads.

Outsider comes into seemingly harmonic town where nothing is as it seems has probably been topic of countless crime shows and twilight zone episodes. It is probably even closer to The Prisoner.

So unless you think David Lynch is a copycat as well, you might reconsider your statement...

You do know M Night didn't write the books, right?

ahordeofrand, why don't you take a big aubergine and shove it up somewhere. Nothing is original! You just haven't grown up enough to realize it yet. Nothing is created - it is mixed, recycled. You are not original either, just a mix of conditioned and copied ideas that you've mixed and assigned to a name (whatever your name is)
Suk it OP! 
