Why did Hassler .... (Goof no one addressed)

So at the end of season 1 they go back into reanimation for over a thousand years but when they all wake and the new generation take over Hassler is just out in the woods with a bigger beard. Hassler was never in the pod the second time round.

Why the hell did he not die? How the hell did he not age?

So dumb.

No, they didn't go back into suspended animation at the end of season 1. The story continued with the new generation taking over. No goof involved.
