David Bowie

I thought that brief conversation about David Bowie was kind of odd. If my rock history serves me correctly, he was not popular until 1972, with Ziggy Stardust. Though I don't think that this detracts from the movie, it was kind of odd.

Space Oddity was 1969.

Yeah but he kind of disappeared commercially after that until 1972, and it wasn't until his Ziggy persona that the press and public become interested in him as personality/rock star. He looked like your average mod and then wussy folksinger until around then.

reply

No, he was really well known pre-1972. He hit the stratosphere with Ziggy Stardust.🐭

I thought it was a strange remark too, the big pop stars of 1971 were Marc Bolan (T Rex), Rod Stewart and Slade, all scoring number ones in the UK.

I've no idea why none of those weren’t used instead of Bowie, Bolan would have been the perfect choice given Hook’s response.
