So, no wonder her daughter continued the lie, her mom is a habitual liar!! Thats where she got it from. Interesting...

No, I think she did not want to tell her mom because she knew how she was and did not want her date a white man. Her mother had issues and was hurt when her father left her for a white woman. That was the issue in the movie not about her lying so much.

No... that isn't "genetics".

She continued the lie because she didn't want to be guilted by her mother... since her mother IS MANIPULATIVE and guilt her for superficial things (ie: race).
